Deeper sleep, better recovery - why top athletes wear functional sleepwear

Very few of us give much thought to our sleep routine - sleep is simply part of life, and sometimes we sleep well and other times badly. For top athletes, however, sleep is often meticulously planned, as a proper rest can make the difference between victory and defeat. Nevertheless, top athletes often suffer from poor sleep quality.

This contribution is presented by Dagsmejan

To perform at their best, the average person needs between 7 and 9 hours of sleep. Recent studies have shown that athletes with intense training sessions need closer to 9-10 hours of sleep per night to fully recover. Frequent travel, intense training, and competitions at ever-changing times make a regular sleep routine virtually impossible, thus compromising sleep quality. Especially before competitions, around 70% of all athletes report poorer sleep quality than usual. 1

To best support their recovery, top athletes around the world trust the sleepwear from Dagsmejan.

"Since I travel a lot, I always have my own pillow with me and since recently, my Dagsmejan pyjamas are also part of my standard equipment, as they help me regulate my body temperature."
Linda Indergand, Olympic bronze medalist in mountain biking

“Every area is optimised in training, but sleep forms the real basis for my performance. Dagsmejan sleepwear has become an integral part of my sleep system since the first use.”
Fabian Meeusen, triathlete, member of the Swiss Triathlon National Team

“Good sleep is very important to me. Peak performance needs peak recovery, and one of the most important parts of recovery is sleep. Dagsmejan's functional sleepwear is good for me because it helps me sleep deeper and thus recover better”
Lena Häcki, Biathlete, Olympic participant Beijing 2022

"Dagsmejan functional pyjamas allow my players to get their best possible rest so they can perform at their best when it really matters."
Patrick Fischer, Coach Swiss National Ice Hockey Team

Dagsmejan Recovery – improved muscle recovery with far infrared energy

The Recovery collection from Dagsmejan takes optimized recovery one step further. For better muscle regeneration at night, the collection relies on the specially developed NATTRECOVERTM technology with effective far-infrared energy (FIR). The minerals incorporated in the fabric reflect heat emitted by the body, convert it into effective far-infrared energy and gradually pass it back to the body. This increases the blood flow and thus the oxygen supply to the muscles for improved regeneration during the night.

The effectiveness of the technology has not only been tested by the globally recognized testing institute SGS, but has also been proved in various international studies. In one of the studies, athletes who wore clothing with integrated far-infrared technology after training reported significantly reduced muscle pain 24 and 48 hours after exercise compared to when they were wearing “regular” clothing afterwards.2

However, clothes with FIR properties are not just for professionals. For athletes focusing on endurance, wearing FIR nightwear after strenuous workouts can be particularly useful to ensure their best recovery for top performances the next day.
