5 tips for the summer holidays

The summer holidays are upon us. While some people might be looking forward to a beach holiday and ‘dolce far niente’, others are making more active plans.

We've got 5 tips for those who prefer sports-based holidays.

  1. Collect moments, not things
Take a different route for a change. Run or cycle with your senses fully attuned and take in the sound of birdsong on your morning run, the filtered light of the forest or the smell of fresh rain.
  2. Seek out a new challenge
There are so many sporting events to choose from during the summer months. Set yourself a completely new challenge, whether it’s a different venue, course length, character or even type of sport. You’ll find all the events in our calendar, from a village run during the week to an international trail or from a spectacular cycling race to a multi-sports event for the family. This new challenge is certain to broaden your horizons and bring you plenty of joy.
  3. Discover your limits
Have you always dreamed of cycling across an alpine pass or touring a large lake? Ever wanted to hike a particular route or climb a mountain? In that case, use these holidays to discover - and perhaps even push - your limits.
  4. Treat yourself to recovery time
While any spare time is typically taken up with training during the normal working week, the holidays suddenly give you time to rest like a professional! Use this break from the usual time constraints to your advantage and give your body and mind time to recover.
  5. Choose the best time for you
Normally, your training is restricted to certain times of day due to work. During the holidays, you can benefit from being able to run outside in the fresh air at dawn or escape the heat and enjoy the coolness of the forest on an evening bike ride.
