Altitude training in the Engadin
Each year 1,000 to 2,000 elite athletes train at the Swiss Olympic Training Base in St. Moritz. With the new infrastructure at the St. Moritz athletics centre and the Finnenbahn cross-country track on Corviglia the Engadin is a bastion for elite and amateur athletes alike.

Altitude training at 1,856m
Every summer endurance athletes from Switzerland and abroad make the most of the Engadin’s high elevation to prepare for the highlights of their season. Distance runner Julien Wanders and the Swiss marathon team comprised of Christian Kreienbühl, Andreas Kempf, Maja Neuenschwander and Marcel Berni are training there to get into top shape for the 2018 European Championships in Berlin.
And just before the World Championships the Swiss national mountain bike team will be up on Lenzerheide (5 to 9 September 2018), fine-tuning their performance levels in the Engadin.
St. Moritz Triathlon: 5th Open Triathlon (Sprint) & Duathlon, 4. - 5.8.2018
Age groupers, Olympic champions and children all compete at the St. Moritz Triathlon Weekend. The highlight is the swimming course in the lake of St. Moritz itself and the foot race on the running track around picturesque Lake Staz.
39th Engadin Summer Run, 19.8.2018
The main race over a distance of 25 km begins in Sils and goes past six lakes to the finish line in Samedan. The track has a minimum difference in elevation of 200 m and is ideally suited as a preparation for an autumn marathon.
Engadin Inline Marathon, 9.9.2018
The world’s highest inline marathon boasts a stunningly unique mountain and lake landscape from Maloja (1,800 m above sea level) to S-chanf (1,670 m above sea level).
