In endurance sports, basic training lays the foundation upon which we can build our more intensive training units throughout the season. Thanks to basic training, we can optimise our metabolism: the body learns to get its energy via the metabolism of lipids and thus preserve the glycogen stores. During a competition, you are therefore able to release a lot of energy from your fat deposits and perform at your best for longer.
