Since its creation in 1973, the Course de la Sainte-Catherine has continued to evolve. What began as a small local race with fewer than 200 athletes has grown over the years into a major event on the Valais sporting calendar, now attracting more than 1,000 participants. In 2025, the race even set a new participation record with 1,162 registrations.

The 39th edition of the Course de la Sainte-Catherine will take place on Saturday, 21 November 2026, in the unique setting of the village of Saillon and its medieval old town.

Every year, children, amateur runners and experienced athletes come together to enjoy a sporting and friendly event. With a variety of courses suited to different age groups and levels, the race is renowned both for the diversity of its events and for the warm atmosphere throughout the village.

The courses take participants through the streets of Saillon and around its beautiful medieval old town, with distances ranging from races for the youngest participants to the main race of approximately 11 km.

The Entretours, open to teams of at least 3 participants, also gives companies, clubs, families and groups of friends the opportunity to take on the challenge together. The team ranking is based on the three fastest times from each team. Since 2024, the course has been shortened to 2.5 km, allowing as many people as possible to take part, regardless of their level of fitness.
